What services does the Florida School Choice Resource Center provide?

The Florida School Choice Resource Center provides the following services:

• Workshops, technical assistance, hands-on training, and professional growth opportunities for district administrators, public school administrators, teachers, parent and community liaisons and specialists. Parents are also educated on public school choice and parental involvement.
• Assistance to school districts and school choice stakeholders.
• Collection and distribution public school choice information, resources and best practices.
• The Parent Advisory Council and the Florida Public School Choice Consortium for networking opportunities for public school choice stakeholders and parents across the state.

Who works at the Florida School Choice Resource Center?

The Florida School Choice Resource Center (FSCRC) is staffed with a Project Investigator, Project Administrator, full-time Grant Project Manager, full-time administrative assistant, three full-time regional Project coordinators (North, Central, and South), two full time Parent Resource Center Parent Liaisons, two part-time Parent Resource Center Parent Liaisons and staff from various partnerships with community and districts.

The North Coordinator is responsible for Orange County and all of the Parent Resource Centers in North Florida, and is also responsible for PAC initiatives.

The Central Project Coordinator is responsible for the region from Glades County to North Miami-Dade County, and is also responsible for the parent outreach initiatives. The Central Coordinator also serves as liaison to the Florida Department of Education on Parent Resource Center events and activities.

The South Project Coordinator position is funded through a grant from Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) and is responsible for South Miami-Dade County as well as all professional development activities for the staff and parents.

Parent Resource Center Parent Liaison staff work with community organizations and volunteers to provide families with information concerning school choice, help families understand the concept of enrolling their children in higher-performing schools, and offer one-on-one assistance to fill out paperwork needed to transfer their children to other schools.
